Our
Booking an Appointment
Initial Assessments:
Once you have been referred to the centre, we will reach out to you, generally two weeks in advance, to book your child’s Initial Assessment. Due to the large number of referrals, the wait time for an Initial Assessment is 4-6 months.
Other appointments:
To book future appointments after an Initial Assessment, CDGC will reach out to you via telephone or WhatsApp to book your appointments with the centre. The appointments to be booked are based on our active caseload. Our active caseload is closely managed to ensure that we reach out to offer you an appointment.
After the Initial Assessment, wait times between appointments vary. If for any reason you have not received a message or call from CDGC in order to book your child’s next appointment, and feel as though you may have been waiting a while, please reach out to us.
Besides not being on our active caseload (see below), sometimes we may not reach out because we are waiting to hear back from a Guardian. Some examples of these situations may be when a child is having surgery, is sick, is in the hospital, or is overseas.
How to Know if Your Child is on Our Active Caseload
Your child may be Inactive in our system for a number of reasons:
- Missed multiple appointments without a valid reason
- There was no response to attempts to book child’s next appointment
Missing Appointments
It is important to attend all appointments as much as possible. CDGC has limited appointment slots, and a large caseload. In order to keep the wait time between appointments to a minimum, it is necessary that appointments are prioritized and attended.
If for any reason you have to miss your child’s appointment, please let us know as soon as possible.
If you are able to provide advanced notice (earlier than the day before), we are most likely able to see another child instead. This helps to keep our wait times shorter!
Blocks of appointments:
If you miss more than one appointment in a block or group (3-6 appointments on a weekly basis), then the block will be cancelled/you will no longer be able to attend the group.
Inactivation:
Depending on the criteria mentioned under “How to Know if Your Child is on Our Active Caseload” above, we may place your child on our inactive caseload. This means that we will not contact you for appointments unless you reach back out to us or get re-referred.
Missing An Initial Assessment
If you miss ONE Initial Assessment for a valid reason, your child will either: 1. Go back onto the referral list, where the wait time will be another 4-6 months; or 2. Have to get re-referred. Depending on the reason for your non-attendance, you may have to pay the Initial Assessment fee of EC $150 before the next appointment is booked.
If you miss MORE THAN ONE Initial Assessment, your child will have to get re-referred by a Health Centre or Paediatrician. After your child is re-referred, you will have to pay the Initial Assessment fee of EC $150 before the next appointment is booked.
Valid Reasons for Non-Attendance
- Illnesses
- Hospitalizations
- Family emergencies
